Seriously thinking about making "Delectable" macarons.

There has been more than a handful of people requesting for us to have macarons up on shelf at the Delectable stores.
I've been using them in our Delectable events; catered parties, even cascading over wedding cakes!
From the beginning of the year up till about just recently; I've felt the macaron craze from different parts of the world. It didn't take Malaysia long to jump onto the bandwagon.
I've been seriously thinking about making a mini macaron bar at our stores. Have been working on the idea the past couple of days.
Let me know what you think. Are you into macarons? If yes; what flavours.. if not; Why?

Sounds like a fab idea! I've never eaten one of those french macarons - only english almond macaroons or coconut macaroons they are very different!
Alas, you're too far for me to go out and buy the macarons too! How about a masterblog post on how to recreate these beautiful babies at home?

hi su, i think the macaron hype has kinda died down a little. there will still be people buying and enjoying them but i'm not really sure if it's all a good idea to dive into a bar and all. but that's just my observation - in singapore, there's tons of shops selling macarons and now, classes to teach people how to make them. so i think the craze has died down a little. just a thought :)

These macaroons are the most gorgeous colors I have ever seen. I bet they taste divine. I would definately add the macaroon bar as I think these will create a real "wow" factor! These are a winner.

Ive been searching for good macs in msia.. and it seems to be zero found in kuala lumpur.

I would be really happy to find macs like i had in san frans by Paulette. they cater the best and prettiest macs in my opinion. check out on their website for some inspiration. and definately, earl grey is the best flavour :D

I do think that macs make the best wedding favor. hope you have them in store before my wedding. (:

Those macaroons look delicious! And it looked really cool on the wedding cake.
I think it would be a good idea to do what PlumLeaf wrote, and make a masterblog post on how to make them at home.

macs r my fav!!!! I luv bitter choc (which i tot sweet milk choc is abit normal, bcuz macs r expensiv I would say among pastries(erm im not sure it's categorized in pastries?!)so I will choose to spend on not-so-common-flavors) Hazelnut is awesome!!! Passionfruit is also nice with its sour-ish taste (I bet msians like sour stuff) & I guess flavors like strawberry n raspberries are most lovable by the crowd.. I did tried jasmine flavour (hehe fr pierre herme), not bad though :D why not try abit "msian-ish" flavors in future like santan or gula malacca (caramel sounds like gula malacca in a way, haha!) I'd only tried one at Whisk! Is thre any other cafes I can find macarons?

I would really like to try a macaron and plan on making them myself. They are too expensive to buy.
I saw them RM14/2pcs at the Godiva Cafe. I do hope that you'll make them affordable because the ingredients are not very expensive. Isn't it just almond meal, egg whites and sugar? I know the technique is a bit fiddly but RM14 for two bites is a little bit out of my budget. I don't even spend that much on a whole meal.

Love, love, love macarons. They are all the hype now in Australia. I love the salted caramel ones and the strawberry white chocolate ones. Lindt cafe here has a wonderful selection.

I love macarons. As long as they are not too sweet. I would love macarons with malaysia flavors: pandan, durian, mangosteen, jackfruit, nangka, rambutan!!!

That would be awesome!

i love macarons! ANY macaron!

Sandra said...

yes i do like them but i agree w Jamie Y where i think the craze is not as crazy now. perhaps just an addition to delectable treats? a bar would be too much :) for flavours, the classic chocolate and vanilla flavours and hazelnut. i tried champagne ones before which were okay and oh passion fruit! im not really loving the multi-coloured one in your post though.

WOW!!... so much to think about! LOL thanks guys for the feedback; both positive and negative ones.. very much appreciated. Hmm I've just been doing some math and some planning and after much contemplation.. I've decided that the idea should be put on hold. At the end of the day; I just still feel macarons aren't one of those things suited to the general malaysian palate.

but you should make macarons! it's amazing and people (like me) would just love to devour them. oh please pleaseeeeeeeee make macarons ):
