Wonderpets??

I haven't been keeping in touch with my inner child the past couple of years. I've lost touch with the latest children shows and characters on TV. Well...hardly ever having the TV on could also possibly have contributed to my lack of interest in the latest trends. From last I remember; it was Barney and the Teletubbies! ....sponge bob for awhile there...but that about sums up all I know about children TV programs. I am pretty ancient ain't I? *laughs*
Just recently, I had the chance to explore more about what Nickelodeon has been up to. Marini had ordered a cake with a Wonderpets theme for her precious 4 year old! I had no idea what wonderpets was! *laughs* She was very patient and nice to supply me with ideas and emails filled with photographs of her son and the Wonderpets. It took us awhile to decide on a suitable theme, emails went back and forth for about a month and I knew I had to do a fair amount of researching to come up with a good design. I really liked the idea of the Wonderpets; it was so colourful and that helped a lot with the colour scheme. Children love colourful things~
Wonder Pets! debuted on March 3, 2006, on Nick Jr. and Noggin. The main characters of the show are three elementary school classroom pets — Linny the Guinea Pig, Turtle Tuck, and Ming-Ming Duckling — who travel around the globe to rescue baby animals who need their help.
I watched an episode of the wonderpets...Kinda got the feel of what I was doing...and had a couple of photographs as a guide. What really caught my attention was the fly-ship 'thingie' the pets flew around in! It was so cute!..almost looked like it was put together by kids at a craft session in preschool *giggle*

This took me a couple of days to make..and the shape of the boat+gravity wasn't exactly on my side. I made "Ming-Ming" the duck (It was his favourite character) and Adam(the lil boy) in the flyboat 'thingie' together~. The cake wasn't made very big..but I hope it was enough for the family it was meant to feed. The marshmallows were meant to look like clouds and the rest of the icing was done with coloured fondant. I did the best I could; and Marini was delighted with what I had...so I guess thats what matters.
I had a full week of cakes this weekend. It was exhausting! Everyone seems to be born in July and August! *laughs* Look out for more cakes to come guys...I'll have them up in the next couple of days... I have only one cake due next weekend; I hope that'll give me more time to concentrate on Uni and more frequent blog posting~ *wink*

Dear Su Yin,
Thank you very, very much for your help and your imagination to create such a wonderful cake.
Everyone adores the cake. Adam was so made up and chuffed, for he loves Ming Ming ( he even ate the whole Ming Ming, poor little duck ).

Will definitely order from you again for my husband's 40th birthday this coming October, and I havent got a clue yet what the theme will be.

Thanks again.

ps : You are so sweet in person.

I am so jealous!! My son's 1st Birthday Party is going to be a Wonder Pets party. I am going to make his fly boat cake and I dont think that I'm going to do it any justice compared to what you made. Your work is beautiful.
