*rolls eyes*

KrispyKreme needs to start a franchise here in Singapore and teach this egoistic donut factory a few lessons; Efficiency for one.On Wednesday; sis and I went by Raffles City shopping mall to purchase a box of donuts she promised her colleagues...Sis said it will be a little 'crazy'. I didn't know what to expect. My jaw dropped when we got there...there was a line of 15-20 people!! The worst part is; the shop wasn't even open yet! We were there 30 minutes early; and there was a line.. NUTS!
After standing there for about an hour I began thinking in my head *I swear; I'll kill my sis if the donuts don't even taste good*
2 hours later...
yes; 2 hours...to serve 20-30 people in front of me...with freshly made donuts displayed on shelves by hardworking donut makers at the back; the 3 girls serving the main counter were slow and pouty... taking their time...throwing12 donuts into each box ...closing it and taping it down; and finally bagging it. IT was ridiculous! they were driving me crazy! 2 hours...to serve 15-20 people. Each person was only allowed 2 dozen donuts each. They even had a sign board along the queue to calm impatient customers.
Between the 3 of them standing out front; it took 6 minutes...to serve one person. To clip a couple of donuts into a box..it was completely absurd.
Well...we got to the front; $#%&*#*(!) bought the damn donuts..*excuse the language* delivered them to sis's office and went home to eat a box we bought for ourselves.

I'd give them a pat on the back for flavour variety; but it would be good if all the flavours were actually nice. *faints* They had stuff like spicy cheese; wasabi...kaya + white chocolate *shrug* Sis said the Kaya was nice; I had the mocha chocolate one...meh..nothing spectacular. Their donut making technique and style is identical to Krispy Kremes. Just thinner and messier looking. The dough was as soft; the glaze tasted the same...but...yea..2 hours? *pfft*
KrispyKreme, Get your Fat DelicIOus DonUT asses to SinGAPORE !!!
I'm sorry....you can tell I'm disturbed..I'm not a fan of long queues and being patient for a couple of inefficient people.

Dear Su Yin,

totally agreed! I just refused to queue up for it! Anyway, tried one that my colleague bought. I won't queue for it, definitely! It's not worth me spending 2 hrs more just to get a dozen sweet bread!

Su Yin, when KrispyKreme first opened in Melbourne, I was sucked in by all the hype as well and went to line up at the one and only store. It took an hour to get my donuts, and this was after the shop had been opened for 3 months already.

I went and bought the KrispyKreme donuts are few times, but then got so sick of it. Its so sickly sweet. I haven't been back in 8 months. I now prefer just nice hot fresh cinnamon donuts.

I don't think I will ever line up for donuts again.

Hi Su Yin

tell me about it! I was in SG and thought I was in luck when the queue was only around 5-7 ppl in front of me. What I didn't know was there was a 2nd half queue after the main walkway!! Was told to come back and queue at 10am for the donuts to be ready at 12 noon! Ridiculous!!!!

If you come back to KL, I'd highly recommend "Big Apple Coffee & Donuts" @ Curve (behind TGIF). Their donuts are simply delicious and none of those whacky flavours. I highly recommend it, so do few bloggers ;)

I did contemplate trying the donuts. Every time I get my food from Chippy's (the shop opposite), the queue at Donut Factory stretches about 80 people...

Now I don't think I'll bother. :D

Oh SuYin! No donut is comparable to the ones bought hot from the van at the Victoria Market in Mebourne. 17 years searching throughout the Nthn Hemisphere and nothing comes close, but I keep trying.
