PB+j (peanut butter and jelly) would probably be something most peanut-butter fans are familiar with but
PB+b (peanut butter and bananas) would be my personal all time favorite. It might seem like I'm beginning to push the boundaries of PB combinations a little too far; but trust me on this one....its ...*sigh*.... absolutely divine. I would wake up happy to a slice of this everyday!
Sweet silky textures from the caramel and lightly seared banana slices match up perfectly with warm toasted bread smothered in a sticky and thick layer of delicious peanut butter. *MmmMmmM* finish it off with a light dust of aromatic ground cinnamon.
Take it from the connoisseur of peanut butter...this will put a smile on grumpy morning faces.
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 banana sliced
1 tbsp butter
2 slices toast (wholemeal/white bread)
2 heaped tbsp of peanut butter
Melt butter in a small saucepan. Throw in the banana slices and brown sugar. Pan fry lightly till brown, sticky and bananas are slightly seared. Toast bread slices. Top with PB and spoon on the banana and caramel mixture. Dust on sprinkles of cinnamon and serve warm. Go easy on the caramel sauce if you don't like your breakfast too sweet.

Thats the Elvis sandwich! I heard one of the reasons he died wa sbecus of this fattening but so good sandwich manz! He ate 15 a day!
This is my all time favourite comfort food. The moistness of the banana just complements the stickiness of pb so damned well. Pity the banana plantations have been wiped out by the cyclone in QLD.
By the way, i tried making the onde onde. The gula melaka didn't melt completely though the balls were afloat. Any tips? Thanks!
oh yes, these have been my hubby & son's favourite too. It is really yummy.
I've had many a pb + b sandwish, but for some reason had never considered caramelizing the bananas first, a definite improvement!
*slurp* This is one of my fav breakfast item during my uni days in Perth... so do you know the history behind this PB+B?? It was one of Elvis Presley's fav food for breaky too!
Love your blog and all the pretty cakes you've made.
wow....I didn't know my fav brekkie was linked to the king of rock and roll...Haha!
the coffee snob: hmm..try using smaller chunks of sugar or cook them a little longer in hot water after theyre afloat. It shouldnt take too long to melt the filling.
I totally love spreading natural peanut butter on a banana and eating it. Sweet and crunchy and rich! but then, everyone I tried to recommend the combination to though I was crazy...
Yup!! Its a slightly healthier version of the King of Rock and Roll fav sandwich, the difference here is that, he fried the peanut butter and banana sandwich, already made, in lard, a very unhealthy french toast?
Anyway, what's the saying again..a moment on your lips a lifetime on your hips? hehehe
