Tim-Tam Truffles

Yeap...another sweet entry..
Some are probably wondering if we've eaten anything savoury the past couple of days. Truth is, we have. I just haven't had much time to blog about them, plus.. these sweet little morsels are So irresistibly PRETTY! haha..the savouries will pop up soon....bare with me guys ;).
Its been almost a month since I've made a videoclip of my food. I've received several comments and emails in my inbox requesting for more! So for those eager for some funky retro tunes and funny clips...here's my next one :). The song is by The Archies; Sugar Sugar.
Tim tam truffles!

The recipe is almost self explanatory; I wont bother typing it up.
The basic idea is TimTams+cream cheese+coat in glossy couverture chocolate (use normal eating chocolate if you don't want the hassle of tempering)
I made 3 lovely truffle bouquets for 3 very lucky people...one's still sitting in the fridge. I wonder who's next!

Wow - Tim Tam Truffles. As a confirmed Tim Tam addict, my son will love hearing about this new recipe! Thanks.

They look fabulous - it's all in the presentation, which I doubt I'd get quite the same - mine would end up looking like a pre schooler's cooking project!

Hmmm, and all this time I thought "Tim Tam" was your own particular name for your gorgeous creation. It took googling it to see it's a brand of cookie. So short of ordering some, what would be comparable? I can't tell from the picture what they consist of exactly.

Su-Yin -Décorateur said...

hey dawn :)...they are chocolate sandwich cookies...
actually ignore waht the cookie "flavour" is...my suggestion is to use your favourite cookie. SHortbread creams...oreos...gingernut cookies....all of these would probably taste good. Try picking a rich cookie to match the chocolate coating. No crackers or salty cookies of course :)

Wow! that looks yummy and yet easy enough for my skills, :) I think I will love your blog. Glad I found it!

hi su-yin. dun know if u still remember me. we went for tuition together in wijaya last time. thank you for sharing your beautiful and creative ideas. im not a good cook at all and i need you to line out the recipe for me. eg. how long do i need to keep the dough in the fridge? sorry if it's really troublesome. i was drooling as i watched ur video clip. :)

Su-Yin -Décorateur said...

chataeu: Aww..thanks :) Its so nice to hear from you.

jenn: heyhey..hmmm dont really recall times of "tuition" ahha went to too many!@! LOL...em..assuming ur still in Malaysia; it's going to need at least 2-3 hours in the fridge or maybe just 30 minutes in the freezer. Take it out and play around with it to see its workable in your hands. It should be moldable but not soft and melting. When it begins to melt pop it back in to chill for a bit more. your first few might not work too well..but practice makes perfect ;)..it might be a good idea to work early in the morning or late at night when its cooler too. Oh AirConditioning!! LOL. Good luck with the truffles!

hi su-yin,
I have been looking at the pictures of the truffles you made each time I come to visit your blog! They are just so beautiful! I would like to give it a try. Do you mind sharing the recipe? and what do u use for 'white' decorations on the truffles? white chocolate?

After many days drooling over the pics of your tim-tam truffles, I tried to make my own tim-tam truffles... and oh my god! they were... horrible...
The truffles were too cheesy... and my chocolate coating was horrible too... So, i tried to innovate... I put sugar icing on it... oh my god! that was even more horrible! green and red icing... and it was drooling all over... like blood or some gooey stuff... whaa!!! that was not tim-tam truffle!!!! I'll never do that recipe again! i'm so afraid of it! My brothers ate them apprehensively... Well, poor them, i'll force them to eat all of the truffles anyway... haha

Yo Su-yin,
Your truffle looks Soooo delicious ;)

Too bad i dont bake...can only drool at all your wonderful-looking pastries hehe
