My friend; Gus

Augustus came across a blog he found entertaining one day.
He likes cake and he thought; "Hey why not say hello to the baker. She deserves a congratulatory pat on the back for a good job done."
A brave and frank email was sent...
...and soon after; a new friend was made.
I've had e-friends, pen-friends and a variety of unconventional friendships in the past; but not many have been as significant as Gus. We didn't have much in common, but there was a sense of compatibility and our funny gestures kept us intrigued to write more. We shared stories about our lives and it felt like a nice way for me to end my days. I really enjoyed writing to a friend I had half way around the world. There were low times when my emails were filled with whine and anger; and Gus never was a wet blanket about it. We shared our triumphant moments in life with each other and i sincerely did feel proud and happy for the many happy achievements he's had in the past couple of years. Wow.. i can't believe it's been so long since we've began writing....to this day i still write him. He writes back too.
Everyone should have someone they can confide in from a different part of the world. Just one... or maybe two... it makes the world seem much bigger than what meets the eye. It's a nice feeling to know you've got a friend you'll probably never meet; but u yet care about. It isn't the type of creepy 'friend' you easily find online; stalking your life with a million questions, sending you photographs of themselves or often having close to disgusting ulterior motives behind wanting to share a relation with you.
You don't think nice and sincere one's exist? Well.. I've found a great friend in Gus and he now means more to me than he probably will ever imagine! haha Maybe after all that unluckyness i've come across in the past, Gus was kinda a break i received to regain faith in 'internet friends'

Why the sudden urge to speak about Augustus you ask?
Well recently my Delectable elves and I have been attempting to come up with a cool name for our new addition to the family of flavours; Teddy, Lulu and Jo. It was to be a beady eyed green frog full of enthusiasm and charisma. The name had to be fresh, funky and not just any classic frog name like: Fred or Froggo. *grin* that made it a LOt more difficult.

We made a list of fun 'boy-ish' names in our free time and we narrowed it down to a few favourites. As we read them out loud, I heard "GUS". I thought.. THAT's IT! It got a nod of approval from everyone as well. The elves were happy to name our new Peanut butter and raspberry filled cupcake: Gus. I'm sure my teddies, sheep and bunnies are glad to have found a new amphibian friend joining them on our glass counters every morning too!Gus cupcakes have been out for close to a week now; we've gotten great response for the PB+j flavour; the matching 2D fork+spoon variety is incredibly cute and cheeky too!I'm sure Mr Jo the bunny here likes having someone to share his 'carrot' lunch with. *giggle*
I load up the peanut butter thick! I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!!!! hahaha; don't say you've not been warned *wink*

I wonder what Gus would say about me naming a 'FROG' cupcake after him.. I promised him it would look adorable at least. LOL

*here's CUMI & CIKI's thoughts about Gus

I like walking around without shoes.

It's the type of thing that makes me feel Happy. I get the whole 'it's dirty' bit of this peculiar habit; but it's really really fun for me. I am able to walk quicker; jump higher, skip faster... all this; with my shoes off and feet firmly touching ground. haha I love driving barefoot too! i'm sure there are many who share this love. Hehe.
You know what i miss most! wiggling my feet in warm sand covered in cool ocean waters... ahhh... feet dunking.. heavenly thoughts...pure Joy...
It could be the connection I physically feel to my surrounding environment, or maybe the soothing contrasting temperature of the ground beneath me and my body, or the hardness of the floor which gives me confidence.... it could be all of it! I've been running about the store these couple of days barefoot, putting up decorations and getting all excited about Chinese New Year! I know it's a month away; but I wanted the store to be pretty and ready before February closes in. I am in desperate need for a foot scrub and pedicure now that it's done. Everything probably just needs a couple more finishing touches and we're set! Mall patrons and our Delectable neighbours have been curious to see what I was going to do with many HUGE YEllow lanterns and a heap of red cloth! haha
I've been so lucky lately... I've had awesome advisers and a number of willing sets of hands to help me with ideas and the difficult strenuous activities. I am more than grateful to the many many elves I've recruited and fished in to bring my ideas to life! It's fun to come up with concepts; but executing them with others allows me to re-question my decisions and improve on them. IT's Excellent!!
Speaking about luck; a couple of charming sweethearts; Rita Chan and Jenny from Fillens popped into our store a month ago and brought us a little luck and love from Hong Kong! They had happened to walk past our store on their very brief visit to Malaysia for work on their magazine and was very excited to feature us in their women's lifestyle and photography.. they were quite disappointed to see the "no photography" signs all about the place! ;) well... with a simple media tag and a friendly hello; that rule can be bent a little I suppose.
The girls did an amazing amazing job photographing our store! Impromptu and with minimal gear too! I really liked the photos... though I can't read Chinese and have no idea what's written; i hope it was a positive review. Haha; from the fun they were having.. I'm going to assume so!
Aight; I'm signing off guys, I'm sorry I don't make enough time to blog; and i don't answer messages as frequently as I use to anymore... but I'm still here.. and you know where to find me; it just takes a little lag before I respond! *puppy dog pout*

XOXOXOxoxo
OH oh! Almost forgot! More new cake pictures to share! hehe

What's all the excitement about? Bah! humbug..

Some choose to believe; the beginning of a new year marks a fresh start... with promises of brighter days and bigger dreams. I used to share the same belief; it is this first year of 2010 that I've thought otherwise. Of course it is good to have resolutions and a time for reflection... but my whirlwind of incidents and experiences of 2009 does not come to an end; just because the calendar flips an unfamiliar number or two.
365 days later; I'm still struggling with the same worries and similar daily routines adding up to the day I succeed to overcome them.
There will definitely be days better than the others... and there will also be days where I wish never existed. The significance of celebrating them at the end of each year is just silly. I want to be able to learn to celebrate each day as it comes.

I'm sure it's a closing of a chapter we like to remember as "2009" but what's with the ridiculous haul of traffic, expensive sparkles in the sky and reluctance to work. *ducks for cover*- in anticipation of flying punches from all sides. :P LOL

I'm sorry "Happy New Year-ers"; forgive my negativity; I have a problem wrapping my head around what the commotion is about. Sulky-Su didn't get a celebration this year; just like last year; she's making a cake... but this year; she's making it alone in quiet space with echoing sounds of cheer and fireworks out the window. All she can think of is... "damn; I'm tired...can't it just be morning already!"
I'll be waking up tomorrow morning feeling exactly the way I did this morning; all resolutions or promises I should be making to myself for self betterment isn't going to be done tonight but shall be done impromptu where appropriate.....
i don't need new years day to signify turning points in my life. ... :S
....... ....
...... oh no...what am i saying?!
Why IN THE WORLD am I being so negative!
We aren't celebrating closure or turning points; we are celebrating opportunities. :(
I take it back.
Happy New Year everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR because we are WELCOMING a new and better year filled with luck; love and joyous moments ahead!

.... sorry it took me a couple of full paragraphs before i latched my head back on straight.
I blame my brain. It's overworked, exhausted and thinking ridiculous thoughts.. *tsk tsk* shame on me.
