The Torture begins! *gasp* (Day 1)

Who could ever imagine that the girl who loves to bake, lives for indulgent cookies and craves deep fried "everything" would actually make a suggestion to go on a diet...not just any diet; a STRICT NO grease, no starch diet. *jaw drops* - I am surprised at myself! It had to be strict and not just a casual diet as I have will power and discipline limits of a 3 year old! THank god for my sweet housemates who were willing to jump on the bandwagon to keep me company and shed some kilos in a healthy eating regime.
Here's a little timetable of what we'll be consuming and I have prepared a couple of healthy, "not- very-yummy" snacks to keep us going when we crave that in-between meals nibble! *sob*
I am almost in tears thinking about the many pastry and cake baking days I'll be missing. *laughs* My challenge for the week would be to try to make everything we eat as tasty as possible; with the freshest of ingredients, least carbs possible and no grease of any sort. *cracks knuckles* Shall we begin!?Dinner meals will be flavored differently everyday with a range of fresh herbs I have prepared. All meat and veges will be blanched, steamed, or grilled/pan fried without oil or butter. Obviously there won't be any baking of sweets of any sort, but fresh fruit salads will keep us going through the week. Veg sticks and cold cherry tomatoes will also be on the snack menu for when we crave something to chew on. Sugar, bread, flour and grains will be off limits till friday and I shall be posting daily on our progress throughout the week.
Here's a peek at our very empty goodie boxes! *sob*!! Snacks are divided into 3 equal portions; one box for the each of us to last us 5 days. The boxes are to keep me from raiding the fridge or the pantry in search of "evil" foods. The largest box is filled with fruit and oats for breakfast and daytime snacks.
*Private note to JIE: HAH! I'm going to win! :P

I can never go on diets, I need cooked food else I end up sick in bed, sniffles and all. Instead I am forced to run everything off.

Good luck. My record was two and a half days before succumbing to sickness and being bed bound. Haha.

Anonymous: I definitly will! I'll probably be taking lots of pictures as I cook througout the week. Look out for recipes!

Minky: Haha yea...diets bring down your immune system. But i hope the 3 of us do alright though. We'll try to becareful and stay healthy. The gym is still an everyday routine as usual and I have to make sure we all eat enough to not pass out from lack of glucose and energy. THanks for the luck ;)

It's me again this morning... I just came back from grocery shopping and saw your message. This healthy diet you decided to do this week gave me motivation to start my own one *don't call me follower please* I just think you are an inspiration! In reality I have been very naughty as I pilled back 8 kg "from a diet I did 2 years ago". I will try stick to it for a month... it's a torture for me as I still have to cook for my husband and 2 kids... so I need all support I can get.

Suyin,

how about healthy fats like salmon and avocadoes? Or extra virgin oil drizzled over salad? Healthy fats are important too...Jia You!

xenia: hey! Im glad ive inspired haha..good luck on your diet too!

cheryl:We probably get heatlhy fats from alot of stuff we eat everyday. I try to use olive oil most of the time.
The diet were having this week is aimed at helping us lose some weight! Haha I don't recommend diets of this sort for long term purposes. We will probably have fish during the week which will have natural oils and avocadoes are on my list as ingredients for salad :)
thanks for the reminder.
