Pies for dinner

I whipped up my mom's 'lazy-chicken-pie' recipe for dinner today. It's possibly the most impressive looking dish I can make with probably as much effort as making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Well, the trick is.... cook the chicken filling and pie condiments in a can of Campbell soup diluted with 1/2 a cup of water. Add spice with tarragon leaves. Cover and assemble pie with a layer of ready made puff pastry from Pampas which can be bought readily rolled out and absolutely delicious! There. Now everyone knows my secret *grin*. I tried making these adorable little stars out of kneaded flour, butter, parmesan, mozzarella and oregano flakes. They came out tasting a little strange...and what's even more strange is my funny housemate who decided it tastes good with a squeeze of strawberry jam on top! I don't think ill be making these again...the recipe isn't really worth sharing either.

I managed to roll up very few of these scrolls which I made with extra bits of puff pastry I cut out from shaping the pies. They turned out pretty yummy. Spread a good layer of honey on pastry strips, sprinkle and dust with brown sugar+cinnamon and roll up. Bake in the oven after the pies are done. Its a pretty good for using up those little scraps of pastry.

I know this post is old, but I wanted to add that I love puff pastry scrolls with strawberry jam and a sprinkling of sugar in them instead of honey. It's piping hot (can burn your fingers if you don't let it cool down!) but it's my favourite treat.
