I've Been Tagged- again!

For another MeMe...*LOL* the word 'MeMe' tickles me! It doesn't seem like a real word which means anything; the word for these blog-tagging activities was probably made up by a baby! I've been tagged by Audrey from AudreyCooks about '10 Things I Miss about My Mom's Cooking'.
My Mom is great! absolutely charming and approachable. She can occasionally be a little strict when we step on her toes; but her striking personality and creative imagination makes her fun to be around. I could probably come up with more than 50 dishes I love which my mom does well....but it wouldn't be what I miss most about her "Cooking".
Here's my personal list of what I miss the MOST!

1. How she cooks her famous Kaya (Malaysian egg custard jam) in the large claypot over coal. She sit's there stirring; and occasionally dips her finger into the Kaya (knowing that it's hot), and goes "Ow Ow oW Ouch" and quickly sticks it in her mouth! She always tells me it's to taste the kaya, but I personally think it's from temptation!
2. When we used to make jam tarts in the kitchen together. She would prepare the pastry and my job was to cut shapes and fill up the tarts with sticky round balls of pineapple jam. Dad will occasionally pop by for a spoonful of jam! and mom would go "Don't eat the jam la, later not enough!"
3. Her pizza. We used to have "pizza-parties". She would prepare the dough and all the "kiddies" would gather around the island counter to pick and create our own pizza from the array of condiments she would lay out!
4. My mom's fruit cake. With EXTRA LARGE cherries. Whole cherries; not diced or chopped! I don't usually like fruit cakes, but my mom's is simply the best!
5. Chicken pie; lazy style! Haha I learnt this one well from my mom. Although it's made quickly with the help of a can or two of campbells, it's still my favourite pie! I don't see why anyone would want to make it from scratch when a tastier option comes in a simple can!
6. How she sticks her tongue out (as though she's aiming) when she pours cake batter into the cake tin! I think it's strange...but funny nonetheless!
7. Mommy's steamed egg custards with ginger syrup! ('den tan'- in Cantonese) I really miss those. They always turn out smooth and just the right consistency. She also used to make them with Milo for my sister and I for a chocolatey custard when we were younger.
8. The times we would spend long hours baking cookies and cakes for Chinese New Year. They were usually given away to friends and family. It seemed like an annual chore when I was a little brat but now as I look back; watching and helping my mom out while she baked actually taught me all my basic baking knowledge which I still use today. I wouldn't be baking the way I do now without the many "training" sessions which I was unaware of through the years.
9. Her attitude towards food and sharing. When she cooked or baked something special; she often made more than enough, not for wasteful reasons; but because a portion of it is meant for family and friends. It isn't usually for a special occasion; but just from her thoughtfulness. It's of course also a great way for her to show off her skills!
10. Last but not least; how my mom would dip a spoon into sauce from the wok; taste it, purse her lips, widen her eyes, look at me and excitedly go " Ooo ~~ that's YuMMy!!
nyam myam nyam"

My mom is incredibly adorable!
